Wriothesley’s first banner in Genshin Impact begins on October 17. If you plan on pulling for the Duke of Meropide, you might want to stock up on his Ascension materials ahead of time. Here are all of Wriothesley’s Ascension materials and where to find them!
Character Ascension
“Tourbillon Device”
These are the boss-specific materials dropped by the Experimental Field Generator. You can find this boss in the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering (FRIKEE) region. It’s not locked behind any quests, so you should be able to start farming it even if you haven’t explored the area fully. You’ll need 46 devices in total, which will take an average of 18 boss runs or about 720 Resin at World Level 8.
Subdetection Units
These mechanical beetles are scattered around northern Fontaine. Make sure you pick them up by interacting with them normally. If you use an Omni-Ubiquity Net, they will be added to your inventory as furniture, not a material. You’ll need 168 of them in total.
Meshing Gears
Gears of different rarities drop from the various Mek enemies around Fontaine. They can be found both above ground and underwater. Basically, if it looks mechanical, it’ll drop gears. You’ll need a total of 18 Meshing Gears, 30 Mechanical Spur Gears, and 36 Artificed Dynamic Gears to fully ascend Wriothesley, more if you plan on leveling his Talents.
Shivada Jade
Shivada Jades are cyan-colored elemental gems with the Cryo symbol on them. They can be obtained from bosses and daily commissions. Unfortunately, the Experimental Field Generator boss does not drop Cryo gems, so you’ll have to get them from other sources. The easiest way is to buy some Dust of Azoth in the Stardust shop and convert some other gems into Cryo ones. It’s not recommended to farm other bosses just for gems. You’ll need 1 Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones in total.
Talent Levels
Order Books
Wriothesley uses Order books, which can be farmed from the Fontaine Talent domain on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. You’ll need 9 brown books, 63 silver books, and 114 gold books to get all Talents to level ten. This translates to around 2,480 Resin or 13.8 days of farming at the hardest difficulty.
Primordial Greenbloom
These are obtained from the Guardian of Apep’s Oasis challenge, which is the weekly boss domain found to the northwest of the Desert of Hadramaveth. To unlock this challenge, you’ll need to have completed the second chapter of Nahida’s Story Quests. You’ll need 18 Greenblooms in total, and since this you can only challenge this boss once a week, that means around 8 weeks of farming at the highest difficulty.
Meshing Gears
Go kill some more Meks to obtain more gears. You’ll need 18 Meshing Gears, 66 Mechanical Spur Gears, and 93 Artificed Dynamic Gears to fully level Wriothesley’s Talents. This doesn’t include the materials needed for his character Ascension.
