Xbox follows PlayStation’s lead with no-questions-asked refunds of Cyberpunk 2077

This is all so wild

Late last night, Sony made a massive unprecedented business decision. It pulled the trigger on offering full refunds for anyone who bought Cyberpunk 2077 through the PlayStation Store. That might happen with some low-profile indies, but it doesn’t happen to games that are as globally popular and drive as much revenue as Cyberpunk 2077.

You had to think Microsoft would follow suit in due time. Sure enough, Microsoft announced this morning that it’s also issuing no-questions-asked refunds for anyone who bought Cyberpunk 2077 through the Microsoft Store.

Here’s where you can start processing that refund, but the link is probably going to be hammered over the weekend. Just be patient if you have any troubles. On a related note, CD Projekt’s leadership team will probably also be hammered over the weekend. What a week.

There was a report that after a lengthy development period, Cyberpunk 2077 was profitable after just one day’s worth of sales. Now, that might not be the case anymore. It’s not often that we see a giant triple-A game’s gross sales and revenue go literally backward. We were always told Cyberpunk 2077 would be groundbreaking, but we could’ve never imagined this would be how.
