Surprisingly sold out at the Microsoft Store

So November 2 came and went (along with daylight saving time) and the Xbox One’s official holiday price cut by $50 is now in effect. This marks the console down to $349.99 at any authorized retailers, which of course includes the official Microsoft Store.

What’s interesting to note is that the Microsoft Store has actually run out of stock on the standard edition of the Xbox One. You’d think the official storefront will keep inventory at a reasonable level — unless this is a sign that the promotion is working and units are flying out of warehouse shelves (probably more inventory issue than the latter, in our opinion).

The last time Microsoft ran out of stock was back in mid-September when it was running the “buy an Xbox, get a free game” promotion (well timed with the release of Destiny).

During that time frame, we noticed various editions of Xbox One dealing with stock issues. That September promotion appeared to have made a noticeable impact in sales of Xbox One, though not enough to topple PlayStation 4 from the sales chart according to NPD’s recent report.

Of course, with the Microsoft Store out of the standard edition at $349.99, you can still get the console at Best Buy, GameStop, etc. But if you’re going to grab the $349.99 edition for the holidays, we’d suggest checking out these select bundles which are much better deals in our opinion:

The Newegg deal is decent enough as paying an additional $30 gets you a game plus one year’s worth of Xbox Live (which usually cost around $40-$50).

The Assassin’s Creed and Sunset Overdrive bundles are self explanatory — why buy the standard edition without any game when you can get a bundle for the same price, with a digital game thrown in? (Two games in the AC: Unity bundle.)

We expect both the Sunset Overdrive along with the Unity bundle to be in stock in the near future, though the Newegg deal is definitely quantity/time limited. (Update: Yep, deal’s dead. Was available earlier today but as of writing all 900 units at Newegg is now sold out).

One last side note for the PS4 fans that are reading this: Newegg is also discounting the white PS4 Destiny bundle to only $409.99. Quantity is limited to 1,000 units. Currently ~430 sold as of writing.
