Xbox Play Anywhere will let you play and purchase games across Xbox One and PC

Cross-platform play, saves will transfer across versions

Gears of War co-creator Rod Fergusson took to the stage at Microsoft’s E3 conference to announce that the Coalition’s Gears of War 4 will be part of the new Xbox Play Anywhere initative, letting players seamlessly move between Xbox One and PC versions of the game.

Players will be given both versions of the game (a-la Quantum Break, but done properly this time), and progression will carry over on both systems. Not only that, but every co-operative mode will have cross-play support, meaning Xbox One and PC players can play the game together.

Right now, the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative has only been announced for Gears of War 4, but I won’t be surprised at all if more games are announced for it very soon.

The Coalition also gave us some fancy new Gears of War 4 gameplay footage, which we will update to include here as soon as it becomes available.

Gears of War 4 will be available on October 11 for Xbox One and Windows 10. A special Gears-branded elite controller is available to pre-order now too.
