Phil Spencer would rather invest in Killer Instinct
Over the weekend, Capcom announced Street Fighter V for PlayStation 4 and PC. Naturally, some folks were upset the fighting game wouldn’t be coming to their preferred platform. Others were curious about Xbox boss boss Phil Spencer’s take on the reveal.
@BRUSH0GUN I’d love it if XBOX fans could play all the games, but business just makes some deals happen. It’s all part of competition.

@CapitanoCasella Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours.

@broggiedoge Love the idea of game franchise bartering, I’ll work on making amends for SF.

Spencer’s remarks recall statements he made in August, when Rise of the Tomb Raider was revealed as a timed Xbox exclusive. Back then, the executive conceded Microsoft had a hole in its portfolio and the deal presented a good business opportunity for the company.
“I don’t want anybody to be happy that somebody else isn’t playing the game. I don’t look at the war that way. I just want gaming on Xbox to be great,” Spencer said. “This wasn’t an attack against anybody else. It was an opportunity that came up for us that fit really well.”
It’ll be interesting to see how Microsoft makes amends for the lack of Street Fighter V on Xbox.
