How to enable crossplay on XDefiant

You can enable crossplay in XDefiant by from the settings menu, which can be accessed from the main menu screen. From here, hit the F3 key or click the cogwheel and settings button in the top-right of the screen, as shown in the screenshot above.

Next, click the Matchmaking & Account settings on the left, which will display your Matchmaking settings. From here, you can turn Crossplay on or off which will toggle the ability to matchmake crossplay. Save your settings and join a playlist to queue with the new crossplay settings.

Keep in mind that you cannot enable or disable crossplay or input-based matchmaking when you are in a party, and will need to leave your party to do so. Afterwards you can rejoin the party and the settings will be active.

What is input-based matchmaking

Another option in XDefiant is to enable or disable input-based matchmaking. This is essentially a sub-genre of crossplay/cross-platform, in which you can enable the option to only play with players using the same input type as you. This means if you are using a controller, you will only play with other players using a controller. If you are playing on keyboard and mouse, you’ll only play against other players on keyboard and mouse.

This option expands the player pool that you can get matched with, while also removing some of the perceived unfairness between controller-based players having aim assist and keyboard and mouse players having more flexibility and faster movements based on mouse sensitivity.

If you enable input-based matchmaking you will only play with this on your same input-type. With the option off, you can be matched with everyone regardless of input-type.
