How’s your aim?
Yamiyo Shrine is a combat shrine in Tears of the Kingdom that, like many other shrines in the game, teaches players different techniques for fighting enemies. In this case, the shrine emphasizes throwing items to defeat the construct inside. Many players will have thrown swords or spears before, but throwing traditionally non-offensive weapons is something not everyone will pick up on.
We’ll walk you through how to complete Yamiyo Shrine below, but first, let’s look at how to find it.
How to find Yamiyo Shrine in Tears of the Kingdom
In all likelihood, Yamiyo Shrine is probably one of the first that most players will come across in the game. It’s right by Lookout Landing, and it’s close to one of the first quests which have players go to Hyrule Castle. To find the shrine, simply head northeast from Lookout Landing to find it just north of Romani Plains. If you’ve already found Kyononis shrine, you can head directly east from its location. Check the screenshot above to see the precise location of Yamiyo on the map.
How to complete Yamiyo Shrine
When you enter Yamiyo Shrine, you’ll be told a list of instructions about how to defeat the construct you need to face. Like many of the combat shrines in Tears of the Kingdom, this one requires you to defeat the construct with a specific method. In this case, you need to throw items, not weapons, at the construct to win. No other types of attacks will deal damage to the construct, so don’t bother wasting arrows or weapons.
You can throw any items at the construct, but the shrine provides everything you need right inside. There are some fire fruit trees near the entrance. Start by collecting the fire fruits. You will only need two accurate shots at the construct to defeat it but feel free to grab all of the fruit available. They’re incredibly useful throughout the game.
When you have your fruits, you will need to throw them at the construct. This works differently from throwing a weapon, which you may have done before. Hold “R,” and Link will get ready to throw his equipped weapon. Without letting go of “R,” press the “UP” directional button to bring up the item screen pictured above. Find the fire fruit and select it. If successful, Link will now be holding the fruit in his hand, ready to throw.
Aim the fruit with the crosshairs, just like you do when throwing a weapon. Hit the construct once, and it will start moving across the platform. When it does that, you need to select a fire fruit again to throw a second at the construct. Two hits, and it’s dead!
That’s it! Yamiyo Shrine is complete. Don’t forget to collect the chest, containing some bomb flowers, on your way out.
