As we approach the arrival of the Fallout TV adaptation, it’s not too much of a stretch to assume a lot of people in the gaming world will be thinking about Bethesda’s ongoing series. With that, don’t be surprised to learn that you can now get customized Xbox Series X|S controllers themed after the post-apocalyptic franchise.
The latest news story over on Xbox Wire shows the control pads that have been given some Fallout love. I don’t mean they’re highly irradiated. Rather, there’s a bunch you can now get from the Design Lab that you could argue have been inspired by the games.
There are actually four variants to pick from: Vault Dweller, Brotherhood, Pip-Boy, and Mutants. Each of them comes with the same basic covering on the controller, but with slightly different colors to the D-pad and analog sticks.
I feel so S.P.E.C.I.A.L. now
If you’ve never used the Xbox Design Lab, it basically allows you to create your own Xbox control pads by customizing the look. You can change the color of the main body, add rubber grips on the back, and put some engraving on it as well.
Obviously, with this latest one boasting an official Fallout design, it’s not going to be cheap. A basic controller with the new look – and nothing else being changed – would set me back just under $85. Who says gaming isn’t an expensive hobby?
This also comes just a day after it was announced that a SpongeBob SquarePants-themed Xbox Series X would be launching this week. March 7, to be precise, if you’re interested. Not me, though. Guess I’ll be sticking with boring black for now.
