Zenimax acquiring trademarks for ‘Prey’ left and right

Those curious as to what’s the status of the sequel to Human Head Studios’ 2006 first-person shooter Prey may have to look no further than Zenimax Media.

As of last Tuesday, the owner of Bethesda Softworks (and more recently id Software) has been getting its trademark hands sticky on with Prey. Prey 2 was announced in early 2008, among one of the many projects of Radar Group, along with now missing-in-action titles like Earth No More and Incarnate. Ownership of the IP appears to have been shifted from Radar to Zenimax, which seems to indicate there’s something afoot.

“This time abandoned and frame for the disappearance of his family and girlfriend, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him,” read Radar’s description of the sequel.

Prey 2 is said to be in development for the Xbox 360 and PC in cooperation with Human Head Studios, bringing back to the portal and gravity mechanics introduced in the original.
