Farmville dev praises your iPads and your Samsung Notethinkers
Console fans will protest, PC fans will bellow in outrage, but Farmville developer Zynga believes tablet devices are on track to become the ultimate platform for gaming experiences. According to games president Steve Chiang, mobile swipe machines are where it’s at.
“I think the tablet’s becoming almost the ultimate game platform. I play before I go to bed, and when I wake up, I play on my tablet,” he told GI.biz. “Imagine FarmVille 2 on a tablet, you can see the detail on a bigger farm and be able to manipulate things, getting a full experience on a tablet. We announced in the earnings call that FarmVille 2 is coming to mobile, and tablets. I expect a number of our ‘Ville games to come to tablets in 2013.”
While Chiang’s words may unsettle some, I can’t deny my iPad gets a lot of my gaming attention. Between One Epic Knight, Super Hexagon, and now Ridiculous Fishing, I can sink hours into a tablet. Then again, I’m just as liable to lose an entire weekend to Skyrim on my PC, so “ultimate” is certainly relative.
